FAQ

How do I apply? You can only apply by filling in an application form including a short video and a motivation statement.

What does the interview process look like? We review every application carefully and invite a shortlist for a first conversation with our talent team. Those who progress receive a case study to demonstrate their thinking and skillset. The final stage brings you in front of founders from our portfolio and our investment team, where we find the right fit for your first station.

What is the role of a Founder Associate? A Founder Associate is a full-time contributor embedded in an early-stage team. You're not an observer, a shadow, or a trainee - you're expected to add real value from day one. That could mean building a financial model from scratch, owning a market entry, running the hiring process for a critical role, sitting in on investor meetings, or helping a founder work through a high-stakes strategic decision. The work is demanding, varied, and real. You'll be given ownership, expected to show initiative, and trusted to figure things out under pressure. Think of it less as a job title and more as a mindset: sharp, proactive, and always useful.

Can international or non-EU candidates apply? We welcome applications from all nationalities. Our stations span Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Poland, Finland, and France. It is your responsibility to verify your eligibility to work in each location, and we are unfortunately unable to sponsor any visas. Please note that the VC station is based in Germany; if you are not eligible to work there, you will only complete stations within our portfolio ventures. Language requirements may also apply depending on the venture.

Will I have any input into which stations I'm placed at? Yes. Station placements are discussed collaboratively. We try to match your interests, skills, and ambitions with the right companies at the right moment. That said, we also believe in the value of being placed somewhere that stretches you, so expect to be challenged, not just comfortable.

Where do stations take place? Portfolio stations are on-site at the respective portfolio company's offices. Your VC station is based in Berlin.

When does the program start? June 2026, beginning with a cohort kick-off day in Berlin.

I’d love to do the program, but cannot commit to 9 months? To be eligible for the program, you need the full 9 months. However, we have plenty of other opportunities in our portfolio, and we’d love to hear from you and want to encourage you to sign up to our Founder Associate Portfolio Opportunities here.

Will I be paid during my internships? Yes, all stations will be paid under internship contracts.

Can I write my thesis or take exams alongside the program? No. This program requires your full focus,  and we mean that. There is no room for a master's thesis, exams, or other academic obligations running in parallel. If you're not ready to step away from university commitments entirely for nine months, this is not the right moment for you. Come back when you are ready and apply in future cohorts.

What happens after the program? You graduate into the Atlantic & FoodLabs alumni network with access to ongoing events, an extended founder community, and a team that stays genuinely invested in where you go next.
