Job description

About Soron Systems
GPS goes dark. Signals get jammed. Most drones fall out of the sky. Ours don't.
Soron Systems is building the navigation brain for autonomous drones that operate where GPS can't be trusted: contested airspace, indoor environments, and GPS denied zones. Born out of cutting edge research at TU Dresden, we've already flown our system under active jamming conditions and proven it works. Now we're going from prototype to product, and we need exceptional engineers to make it happen.
This is a rare chance to join at the ground floor of a deep tech startup solving one of the hardest problems in autonomous systems. You'll write code that flies (literally) and see it tested on real hardware within days, not quarters. If you're excited by computer vision, robotics, and building things that matter, keep reading. You'll work directly with the three co-founders, Justus Rischke, Christian Vielhaus, and Johannes Hofer, all from TU Dresden's Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks.
Your Role & Responsibilities
You're joining a three-person founding team at the moment that counts - prototype proven, product next. You'll own core parts of the navigation stack from computer vision pipelines to real flight tests. No abstraction layers, no waiting. You write code and watch it fly on hardware you helped build, within days, not quarters.
Computer vision: visual inertial odometry, SLAM, and OpenCV pipelines
AI object detection and segmentation on NVIDIA Jetson (CUDA)
ROS 2 autonomy stack integrated with ArduPilot via MAVLink
Embedded Linux deployment with Docker on real UAV platforms and handhelds
Simulation in Gazebo and NVIDIA Isaac Sim, plus real flight testing near Dresden
What you need to succeed
Strong software engineering skills in C++ and Python; comfortable with Git
Background in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field
Friendly, open communicator who thrives in small, collaborative teams
Highly self motivated: you take ownership and drive things forward
Solid English skills (German is a plus but not required)
What we offer
Early stage equity: meaningful ownership in a company at the very beginning
Direct, daily collaboration with the founders. No layers, no politics.
Real hardware, real flights, real users. Your code ships on drones, not dashboards.
A fast paced, deeply technical environment where your work has immediate, visible impact
Location in Dresden: one of Europe's top hubs for semiconductor, robotics, and deep tech innovation
- Dresden, Sachsen, Germany
