Job description

About Klim
We’re building the platform that makes regenerative agriculture scale. From Berlin, we pay farmers to restore soil, capture carbon, and increase biodiversity, while helping companies like Nestlé and Kaufland clean up their supply chains. $22M Series A. 4,000 farmers. 900,000 hectares. Europe’s leading Scope 3 solution. Still early. 60+ people. One planet. Build something that holds up.

The Role
You own the scientific core of Klim’s platform: our carbon and environmental models. These models determine how money flows to farmers, what companies can credibly claim, and whether regenerative agriculture becomes a real economic system or stays a niche idea. You operate where soil science, software, MRV, and commercial reality meet. Your job is to turn complex science into clear product decisions and ship systems that work at scale. You’re not building a model for a paper. You’re building one that determines how incentives are allocated across agriculture. If this works, it shifts incentives across millions of hectares. That’s the bar.

What You’ll Do

Build the models that matter

  • Own the roadmap for carbon, biodiversity, and soil models

  • Push model accuracy, scalability, and geographic reach

  • Expand into agronomic insights and farm-level economics

Ship real product

  • Translate science into clear requirements and execution

  • Lead a team across science and engineering

  • Make trade-offs that stick

Keep it defensible

  • Align with VERRA VM0042, GHG Protocol, SustainCERT, SAI RTF, ISOMETRIC

  • Challenge assumptions and maintain scientific rigour

Connect the system

  • Work closely with MRV, Farmer Sales, and Product

  • Ground models in real-world data

  • Feed market signals back into the roadmap

Why This Is Interesting

  • You’re not building a model for a paper. You’re building one that determines how incentives are allocated across agriculture

  • The work sits at the intersection of science, product, and markets, and each one constrains the other

  • The space is still being defined. Standards, methods, and expectations are moving, and you help shape them

  • The feedback loop is real: what you ship affects farmers, companies, and how credible this entire category becomes

Who You Are

  • You’ve built and shipped complex, technical products end to end

  • You’re comfortable in data-heavy or scientific environments

  • You can debate model assumptions and explain them to a CFO

  • Quant background helps: physics, engineering, environmental science, maths

  • You move well in ambiguity and evolving regulation

  • Fluent in English, German is a plus
