Job description
This is an Atlantic portfolio venture.
About the Venture
We're building next-generation edge AI hardware designed to learn directly on the device. Our mission is to design a chip architecture inspired by the human brain, overcoming the computing bottlenecks that hold AI back today. Based in Bochum, Germany, we've raised over €8.6M in funding and are backed by a strong group of investors and the German government. We're a small, focused team working on something genuinely new, not iterating on what already exists.
About the Role
This is a senior IC design role covering the full stack, from concept through to successful silicon. You'll own critical parts of the analog and mixed-signal design work and collaborate closely with the founding team to take this technology from lab to product. Your circuit designs will define what this new architecture can actually do, solving real challenges across industries like industrial AI, healthcare, energy, robotics, and space.
What you'll do
Design, simulate, and validate analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, including opamps, low-power and low-leakage circuits, ADCs, DACs, logic, and memory blocks
Lead and contribute across every stage of the IC design process: schematic design, simulation, layout, parasitic extraction, post-layout verification, top-level integration, and final sign-off
Drive circuit design decisions with a focus on low-power performance, low-leakage, and noise robustness
Own hands-on board-level design, integration, and testing
Debug silicon prototypes in the lab, working through performance optimisation and issue resolution
Collaborate with other teams to make sure designs meet system-level requirements
Write and maintain technical documentation for design, testing, and verification processes
About You
You're an experienced IC design engineer with deep knowledge of analog design theory and a strong track record in analog / mixed-signal circuit design. You're comfortable working across the full design flow and care about getting the details right while keeping the bigger picture in view.
A Master's or PhD in Engineering Sciences or a related field, with a focus on integrated circuit design (analog / mixed-signal)
5+ years of experience in analog / mixed-signal IC design
3+ successful tape-outs involving complex IC design flows at 65nm or below
Strong expertise in designing opamps, low-power, and low-leakage circuits
Hands-on experience with industry-standard design tools, preferably Cadence Virtuoso
Solid grounding in parasitic extraction, post-layout simulation, and verification methodologies (MC, corner)
A good understanding of device physics and fabrication processes
Comfortable working and communicating in English
Nice to have:
Familiarity with advanced CMOS process nodes (e.g. 22nm)
Experience with PCB design (e.g. Altium Designer) and debugging analog / mixed-signal circuits
Experience with data converters (ADCs / DACs), filters, logic, and memory blocks
Interest in or experience with neuromorphic, in-memory, or other non-Von Neumann computing architectures
German language skills
Why Join
This is a genuinely new chip architecture. You won't be iterating on existing product lines, you'll be designing something that doesn't exist yet. You'll have direct ownership over your work and close proximity to the founding team. The hierarchy is flat, communication is honest, and there are minimal layers of approval between you and the decisions that matter. You'll get 30 vacation days, flexible hours, and the option to work remotely, hybrid, or onsite in Berlin or Bochum.
